What to expect
Your first session
You do not need to prepare anything.
Before
You write, and Hanan replies on a weekday. Tell us your prayer times and how it is best to reach you. You will have your fee in writing before you come.
The hour
The first session is 60 minutes. Hanan explains how she works and the limits of confidentiality. You say what matters, and you can say it in English, in Arabic or in both.
After
At the end you decide whether to meet again. If you do, Hanan sets the pace with you. If you do not, there is no charge for asking.
Good to know
Good to know before you come
Prayer
A quiet room is yours before or after a session, with a mat and the direction marked. If you need to pause for prayer during a session, we pause.
Confidentiality
What you say is confidential, with limits the law sets, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or a report the law requires. Hanan explains these in the first session.
Who comes
You can come alone, or bring your spouse or an adult family member if you would like. Hanan does not see children or teens.
Questions
Questions about the first session
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing. If you have insurance, bring the card so Hanan can go through your benefits with you.
Do I have to talk about my faith?
No. You decide whether faith is part of your sessions.
What if I am running late for a prayer?
Say so. Hanan will stop on time, or pause, whichever you choose.
