Counseling for Muslim adults and families · Dearborn
Counseling where faith is yours to lead
Marrow is a one-counselor practice on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Hanan Zahran meets you in person, or by video if you are in Michigan, and plans every session around your prayers.

Fit
Who Marrow is for
Muslim adults
You pray five times a day, or you are finding your way back, or you are not sure where you stand. Either way, you do not have to explain the basics here.
Couples and families
Marriages, in-laws, and grown children and their parents, in the same room and on the same footing.
People between expectations
What your family hopes for and what you want for your own life do not always line up. Hanan helps you think it through at your pace.
What Marrow is not
Not an emergency service, not a place for medication, and not a source of religious rulings. If you need an imam or a scholar, Hanan can help you find one.
Services
Services
Sessions are for adults. Hanan does not see children or teens.
Individual therapy
One to one, 50 minutes. Mostly conversation, with a few skills to try between sessions if you want them.
Individual therapyCouples and marriage
Two people and one counselor who does not take a side. Marriage is a shared project, and the work is shared.
Couples and marriageFamily sessions
Adult family members together: spouses, parents and grown children, in-laws.

Your counselor
Hanan Zahran, Licensed Professional Counselor
Hanan sees adults and couples in English or in Arabic, in the office or by video. She is a counselor, not an imam, and she will tell you so. What she brings is a steady ear and room for your faith to be as present as you want it.

How it works
How it works, and how it fits your day
- 01
Write to us
Your name, how to reach you and a time that works. You do not need to say why. Hanan replies on weekdays.
- Prayer-time scheduling02
Tell us your prayer times
Say which prayers you keep. Hanan builds your appointment around them: never over a prayer, never so close to maghrib that you are watching the clock in a Michigan winter, and never through Friday midday.
- 03
Meet
The first session is 60 minutes. Hanan explains how she works and the limits of confidentiality, and you decide what to bring.
- 04
Keep a rhythm that holds
Most people meet weekly or every other week. In Ramadan, Hanan offers earlier evening hours and shorter gaps, if you want them.
How fees work
Insurance we work with
Marrow is in network with some plans and out of network with others, and Hanan tells you which before your first session. Marrow does not bill Medicare or Medicaid. If you need a counselor who does, tell us and we will help you look.
In network with some PPO plans
Out of network with others, with a receipt you can send in
Medicare and Medicaid are not billed
What you pay depends on the session: the first session is 60 minutes and a regular session is 50. Hanan gives you your fee in writing before the first session, and you pay at the end of the hour. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open, and Hanan sets the fee with you. Whatever the fee, the hour and the care are the same.
Your fee is given in writing before the first session
A limited number of reduced-fee spots
HSA and FSA cards work for sessions
24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session
Receipts for reimbursement
At the end of each month Marrow sends an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can send to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code, and your plan will see it. Your plan decides whether it pays you back, and how much.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start, and Marrow gives you one in writing. If a bill comes out $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
Before your first session Hanan will go through your plan's behavioral health benefits with you if you ask, and tell you what to ask your plan. Marrow cannot promise what a plan will pay.
Questions
Questions people ask first
Do I need to be religious to come here?
No. Marrow is for Muslim adults at every distance from practice. Hanan follows your lead on how much faith comes into the room.
Does Hanan give religious advice?
No. She is a licensed counselor, not an imam or a scholar. If a question needs a religious answer, she can help you find someone to ask.
Can we meet around my prayers?
Yes. Tell us your prayer times when you write, and appointments are set around them. There is a quiet room in the office where you can pray before or after.
Can I use insurance?
Marrow is in network with some plans and out of network with others. Hanan tells you which before your first session. See how fees work.
What if I am in crisis?
Call or text 988, any time, or call 911 in an emergency. Marrow does not monitor messages around the clock.
